Okay, So I’m A Day Late and A Dollar Short…

Standard

It’s been a while since I’ve posted.  If you’re anything like me, you’ve got a gazillion irons in the fire.  I work full time, have a couple of side-line businesses that I run, and try to go food shopping and do laundry once in a while!!  Good thing my boys are grown and on their own.  I hardly have time to clean the house, no less think about cooking a meal for anyone.  So I am always amazed when I see other people’s blogs and the work they do…how they do it, I just don’t know!

In any event, a few things that have taken place in-between all this time included a workshop for a group of Girl Scout Leaders and a home show.  Here are a few pictures for your viewing pleasure

…and if someone could kindly teach me how to get these pictures in correctly, I’d owe you my life!

Happy Tangling!!

FRAME A ZENTANGLE – ON THE CHEAP!

Standard

We recently had a workshop to learn how to frame our Zentangles – On The Cheap!  Using ready-made frames bought at Michaels, I taught how easily you can frame a picture and make it look quite professional.  Here are a few pictures from our class…

All enjoyed the workshop and were so proud of what they learned!  Diana is now a framing freak!  She went to Michaels and bought a bunch of frames and went home to frame many of her Zentangles!  What great gifts they’ll make.

Domino Effect…

Standard

Oh my…I’m in love with Dominoes!  So I just have to offer a workshop for tangling them and making necklaces out of them.  Just think…if we tangled all the dominoes we could find, we could put them in a row and hit one, and they’d all fall down.  Or we could build a Domino House, or brick a sidewalk with them…I’m thinking there are lots of possibilities with tangled dominoes!  Here’s a sample of what we’ll be taking away from the class.  Guess what everyone’s getting for Christmas!!

Happy Tangling…

CZT Zentangle Retreat

Standard

What do you call a woman who is bleary-eyed, hyped, all tangled up and screaming “Zentangle is coming!   Zentangle is coming!”  You call her addicted!  You call her totally tied to tangling, you call her Bonnie, Tangling in the Land of Oz!!  Our CZT Zentangle Retreat has been going since Friday morning at 8:00 am, usually ending at about 11:00 pm each evening.  At this point most of us are bleary-eyed and hyped!  Angie Vangalis (CZT #3) has been our training mentor and the entire program she set up for us has been absolutely marvelous.  She is an energetic, fun, informative lady who was certified as a CZT in the 3rd Certification class, and who has been involved in graphics and marketing for many, many years.  During our time here we’ve learned a ton about marketing, and have done a whole bunch of different projects to share with Zentangle enthusiasts in our areas.

We have a great group in attendance (about 20) which allows us to really get to know each other!  It’s been such a Zentabulous experience to get to share with these ladies, hear about what they are doing with Zentangle in their areas (Texas, New York, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Florida, New Mexico, Illinois, and KANSAS – THAT’S ME), and see what kinds of projects and work they are doing and teaching.

Tomorrow, our last day, we get to spend with Suzanne McNeil, one of the Zengtangle Divas!  You can learn all about Suzanne and her wonderful books and knowledge at http://blog.suzannemcneill.com.

For now, here’s a picture of the Zendala I made last evening.  Suzanne taught us this and it was really lots of fun!  I had to laugh because mine ended up looking like a marijuana leave (but with 6 leaves), so I called it Lucky Marijuana (Lucky Mary) for short – LOL!!!

Tangling in the Land of Oz…Happy Tangling!

Girl Scout Leadership Council – 2012

Standard

WOW!  What a weekend!  Blanca Banda, the Bilingual Membership Growth Specialist of the Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland coordinated the most fantastic Leadership Council program!  She had local motivational speaker, Gail Foley, who opened up the program with her great enthusiasm, sharing a montage of her experiences and how she harnessed enthusiasm in her own life.  Her challenge?

Force yourself to ACT Enthusiastic, and you’ll BECOME enthusiastic!
“Make a high and holy resolve that you will DOUBLE the amount of enthusiasm that you have been putting into your work and into your life.   If you carry out that resolve, you will probably DOUBLE your income and DOUBLE your happiness.”
How can I begin?  There is just one rule:  To become enthusiastic, ACT enthusiastic!

There were a number of workshops offered to the Girl Scout leaders to challenge them, spark new ideas for their troops, and offer them refresher workshops.  I loved the brochure they handed out with the information for the day…here are some of the powerful words used in that brochure:

Communicate

Strengthen

Empower

Motivate

Discover

Connect

Educate

Imagine

Inspire

Dream

Grow

Lead

Three separate one-hour Zentangle workshops were held which inspired these leaders to imagine!  Just Imagine — A new art form to share with their troops, A new way to connect each girl with each other and their troop leader, A new way to discover their inner artist.

I had such a great time sharing the Zentangle method, watching as each leader began to see a beautiful Zentangle image start to appear, and how excited they were when they completed their very first Zentangle!  Here is a peek at some of the images and the troop leaders who worked on them…

The Girl Scout emblem was created by me using a template from the Girl Scout Pathway Definitions.

GIRL SCOUTS ROCK!!

Happy Tangling!

Calming Collections…

Standard

Finally, here’s the pictures from the Zentangle 101 Workshop from earlier in March!  I’ve had quite a hectic schedule, so please, please forgive me for being so late in getting these pictures up!  We had a really nice time together at this Vintera Gallery program.  We had an opportunity to listen to some lovely music from a CD entitled “Calming Collections”, which is a collection of music by the Via Christi Music Ministry Musicians.  This ministry provides in-hospital concerts and solo bedside performances.  If you are interested in learning more, contact Muriel Slater.  As you can see, some beautiful Zentangles were created during this wonderful session!
